Experts enhance Oracle Project processes for a tighter integration with the entire landscape of the enterprise, creates more transparency.
Challenge:
Spire, a public utility holding company providing natural gas services in Missouri, sought a business improvement project to align its current ERP architecture with the core needs of the finance and supply chain teams. The company's architectural approach was a "best-of-breed", which included Oracle EBS as its primary ERP system, PowerPlan, and Maximo. The combination solution resulted in numerous System and IT Spend efficiency and application functionality issues, such as overall solution performance, month-end-close processes, user experience and transparency of project transactional data.
Solution:
Project Partners was selected to help undergo a platform optimization and processing re-engineering project to support best practices across their entire organization. Our team implemented Oracle Projects and integrated the new system with the existing Oracle ERP platform to standardize the technology footprint across their organizations' business processes. In addition, Project Partners User Interface Applications (UI-Apps) solution would be deployed to improve the user experience when creating and approving work orders.
Outcome:
The main enhancements for processes now owned by Oracle Projects resulted in a tighter integration with the existing Oracle landscape and all other modules, including GL, AP, AR, Etc. The integrated nature of Oracle Projects with Spires' other main subledgers resulted in improved transparency and provided drill down capabilities across the organization.
- Overall improved alignment across their Oracle footprint.
- UI-Apps streamlined the user experience of creating and approving capital work orders.
- Capital work orders now follow the same approval processes of other costs, such as purchase requisitions and invoicing.
